When Doug Flynn learned he had been traded from the Cincinnati Reds to the New York Mets, the news was met with mixed emotions.

He was thrilled that he going to be able to play everyday in the baseball mecca of New York, but the move also meant leaving Ohio, more specifically Kentucky, where he was born and raised, leaving the only franchise he ever knew.

What most people didn’t know was Flynn’s story off the field. He and his family were reeling from the disappearance of Melanie Flynn who had vanished months before Doug was traded to New York. Her car was eventually found, but to this day the mystery remains.
