The New York Mets play their second game at the Polo Grounds against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
After losing their home opener at the Polo Grounds in 1962, things didn’t get much better in game two against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Pittsburgh scored four runs in the fourth inning against Al Jackson on their way to a 6-2 win over New York.
The Mets scored a pair of runs on only five hits including a ninth inning home run by Jim Marshall. New York went 0-for-4 with RISP.
