The Mets managed just three hits — two by Gene Clines — but held a 3-0 lead going into the eighth inning at Shea Stadium.

Mets starter Randy Tate held the Expos scoreless through seven innings, but then four runs came across and Montreal went on to win the game 4-3. Tate struck out 13 Expos.
