Think about that.
While watching Scherzer strike out nine Philadelphia Phillies today, it struck me how rare that statistic is. Scherzer and teammate Justin Verlander are No. 1 and No. 2 among active pitchers on the all-time strikeout list and the only two active pitchers to have 3,000+ strikeouts.
