With the Mets struggling to play .500, and sitting in fourth place after two months of the 1990 season, Frank Cashen fires manager Davey Johnson
May 29, 1990: The New York Mets were sitting in fourth place in the National League East with a 20-22 record.
Davey Johnson could sense he was on the brink of termination when Mets GM Frank Cashen called his hotel room and asked him come by his suite. Cashen was not expected to be with the team on their road trip to Cincinnati.
