It was May 29, and the New York Mets were 11 games below .500 (22-33) and looking up at the entire National League East. They had just been swept, coincidentally, in a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Citi Field.

The season was slipping away and Francisco Lindor knew he had to do something. That something was a closed door players-only meeting.
