With the 1968 baseball season still three months away, the New York Mets held a splashy public relations dinner at the Diamond Club inside Shea Stadium.
The team revealed a slick video titled, “A Year of Change,” that featured the arrival of Gil Hodges as a manager, and a fresh new core of exciting talent that Ron Swoboda, Tommie Agee, Tom Seaver and Bud Harrelson. Members of the New York media walked away with a renewed sense of spirit and hope for the young National League team.
