In hindsight, we should have seen this coming. Instead, the expectations for the 1970 New York Mets were never higher. Coming off a World Series title, the Mets had a stockpile of HOF arms, a powerful offense, and a revered manager. On the surface the Mets were primed for long, successful run.
However, history tells us a different story.
